Groovorio Browser Hijacker Removal Guide

Groovorio.com is a web browser hijacker that modifies your web browser’s search and home page settngs. It is bundled with other free software hat you have download online through bundled installers. The Groovorio.com homepage most likely got onto your computer after you have installed a freeware program and have also agreed to change your browser homepage and default search engine to groovorio.com through a small opt-out checkbox. In addition to the browser modifications, Groovorio also installs a web browser plugin called Groovorio which works in Internet Explorer and Chrome. While probably not the case for most hijacks, the Groovorio adware can also be downloaded directly from the products web site www.getgroovorio.com.

Note, when removing the browser plugin Groovorio from the Windows Add/remove programs settings, in most cases this will not reset the search and home page hijacks made by the software which needs to be done manually.

According to the program’s Terms of Service (www.getgroovorio.com/eula/), the adware performs the following actions:

Following your acceptance of this EULA, the Software will be installed on your computer. The Software may be in the form of a browser; an app that changes your browsers’ new tab setting and/or features that you may choose to install and may affect your browsers’ search settings. These features may include, as applicable, changes in your browsers’ (i) home page(s) and/or new tab(s); (ii) default search engine; and/or (iii) error page functionality.

As part of the Software you will be able to use features that provide you with the ability to conduct web searches. When you use these features we will collect information such as URL of the page containing the results of your search queries (“Search Generated Information”). The Search Generated Information may include your personal information such as your name, should you choose to search for results pertaining to it.
